There are so many important and informative videos out there with the knowledge, information, and insights that we need at this crucial time in all of our histories. This will be the place where where share links to video media and then discuss what we find pertinent, what we find disharmonious with our goals, what will work and what won't, and what we can use to move ever-forward on our road to full liberation and sovereignty. Our freedom is integral to the freedom of our world. Not all of the videos will be particularly short, so please prepare for that. (I sometimes listen to them as I'm doing other tasks, like dishes or laundry, and that helps me to move through them more efficiently.) Feel free to rewind and rewind some more to capture points you may need to clarify or hear more than once. And, as always, comment and keep commenting & get the discussions goin'!

In The Reading Room
So, this is where we will discuss what we are currently digesting together in print. We want to keep things lively and interesting because some (most) of the things we'll move through together will be on the heavier side. Pacing will help us a bit with this. We will have soft 'deadlines' to keep us on track and moving (nothing is more frustrating than stepping away from a work too long and having to retrace your steps to get back into the groove of it.) Like a good cup of coffee (or tea), you gotta keep sippin' while it's hot. Don't feel pressured; but do feel motivated and energized about reading the works we'll move through. Remember: we're in this for our mutual uplift and the uplift of our people. The possibilities of what we can build together are truly exciting, though the work won't all be "fun" ...And, that's exactly why we are in this group right now, not many want to do this work. You are among "the chosen few" -- Thank You and Welcome!

In Non-Violent Resistance
...and how to defeat it. This is our first reading everyone: "From Dictatorship to Democracy: A conceptual framework for liberation" by Gene Sharp. The reason I've chosen this text is to bring a bit of light and hope, direction and scope to what we want to accomplish in this group. Our ideological objective is liberation, but what does that mean? How does it look? How do you move from where we are, to where 'liberation' is? To answer these questions, we must develop real strategies and tactics to materialize that goal and bring it into workable and practicable forms. And, first, we must acknowledge that the state in which we live is increasingly (and perhaps subtly always has been) operating as a dictatorship. Capitalist imperialism is a dictatorship of the rich and powerful, an oligarchy that must be unseated in the same ways as all dictatorships must and can be. If you must, replace the word "dictatorship" with "capitalist imperialism" and the same effect is achieved and the information is just as valid and fits just as well.  Also, this book will start us on another crucial path for our work, that of non-violent resistance. There are many forms of combat and conflict that we are not told about or made aware of in media attempts to propagandize us around perpetual war. Humans can live peacefully without violence, and in fact, non-violent resistance is, in many ways, more powerful and more effective than violent means of waging conflict. I hope we can begin to broaden our thinking on how to unseat an opponent whose strength is war and violence without ourselves having to use violence, and further, by purposely using non-violent means. This will probably be one of the shortest texts we read together. Yay! The author, Gene Sharp, wrote it as a primer of sorts, after decades of research, and it has been used to great effect in freedom struggles the world over. Though it may be light, it shouldn't be taken lightly. The best part is this book offered for free by Gene Sharp's organization, The Albert Einstein Institute. Here's a link to the fourth edition: http://www.aeinstein.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/FDTD.pdf(http://www.aeinstein.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/FDTD.pdf) As you move through the work, please comment with any questions, observations, realizations, bright ideas, or any and all good jokes. Also, always feel free to address anything that you don't understand or that feels 'off' to you in the work. This is an open and safe space to discuss*. *(see the "Make It Yours" post in The Round Table section for notes on how we discuss with each other in this space.) Ready? Set? Read!

This is our space. Really, our space. Just for us. So, relax, don't take things so seriously, but by all means, be sincere. Kick off your shoes, take off your earrings, and let your hair down. Make this forum yours... so that the ideas that flow can be really, fully ours. Here is how we'll do that together: Be respectful at all times. Talk to everyone the way you'd talk to your grandmother. Be optimistic, even in your deepest realism. We are facing truly trying times and must be willing to reassure each other, encourage each other, edify each other so that we can continue to see clearly the 'ways out and through.' Deliver hard news with a kind and empathetic heart. If you discover (from reliable sources) that an asteroid or a tsunami is about the wipe out a city or there's imminent threat of foreign invasion or there's financial collapse on the horizon, break it to us...but gently, please. We'll have to have the strength to marshal our forces, muster our resources and prepare to survive. (I'm serious about this.) When you disagree, simply do that. Do not make it your mission to convince someone that they are wrong. Our goal is synergy - bringing together disparate energies and ideas for mutual benefit. So, if someone's opinion or theory differs from yours... Hooray! Y'all are one step closer to a new idea altogether. Nothing is worth arguing about. Arguments will be promptly neutralized. Period. Parties who feel they must argue will either be removed for a period or permanently. Period. Name-calling is never necessary or tolerated. No discussions; you will be removed. Harassment of any kind will be cause for immediate removal. No questions, no discussion. Be sincere. You do not, however, have to be serious. We often take this world too seriously and that leads to all kinds of blindnesses to opportunities and openings for change. Feel free to be lighthearted here...and this can be accomplished in all sincerity. Please, really have read (or watched or listened to) what we are discussing prior to providing input, or at least tell us you haven't read (or watched or listened to) the material and are making general comments. Then, please, set aside some time to indulge in the information. Do share uplifting and encouraging stories. Spread the Good News, too. Spell and grammar check. For real...no one is policing you or asking you to write great novels, just at minimum checking for accuracy in your writing. It has marvelous benefits, seriously. Firstly, it gives you a moment to think about what you have said and are trying to say. Secondly, checking before you post makes it more certain that your point will be made clearly. Also, it secretly boosts your writing skills...and let's face it, we will all be called upon to communicate what we learn together - to somebody, somewhere, in one way or another - so let's all work together in a safe space to get a little better at it. Shall we? Do share jokes and fun things. The work we are on about can get heavy and feel depressing at times. We can use humor to counteract these tendencies and remind ourselves that not one of us on this planet knows enough to be truly worried. Do not lose hope. Full stop. Think twice as much as you speak. Though we are here to discuss, please measure your responses and temper your tone. We are all working under the same weight and pressure of a world on fire... take a little time to breathe and respond rather than simply react. Make it Yours... to make it OURS. We Are Uhuru!
